Buckle up, because we have a lot to unload in this months Real Life Red Carpet. In a single week we have highfalutin and recently confusing Met Gala, the return of Jazz Fest and Mother’s Day! Let’s get right into it.
Jazz Fest Fashion
Week one of a real Jazz Fest in the books (finally) and a strong & pervasive trend is something I am calling: “Cowboy Disco”
What is Cowboy Disco????
Metallic Cowboy boots that might even be mismatched and cowboy style hats from what looks like an Amazon purchase. These accessories are worn with barely there pastel slip dresses (seriously a very minimal appearances by any sort of fabric) or matching short and crop top sets.
Jorts (or something like it)
Jean Shorts are always a fan favorite, some may be mistaken for undergarments and would make your grandmother (or 40 something year old stylist) upset.
I am no prude and thoroughly enjoy all the creativity and effort that went into putting these ensembles together I just worry about sunburn in those exposed locations…daily reminder to wear sunblock!
I truly expected to see more embellished caftan but next weekend is Stevie Nicks so I am hopeful that everyone will be channeling their inner “Golddust Woman.”

Let’s hear it for the dad’s out there! More importantly go follow Jazz Fest Dad! It’s fun and more convenient that a pair of tactical cargos and a Hawaiin shirt

Met Gala Recap
3 years removed and we are finally back to the first Monday in May for the Met Gala! I am so pleased that 75% of the attendees behaved and respected the event. It is always a spectacle and fashion most certainly should be fun, but there is a line that should not be crossed.

Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s day to all the moms out there. Equally, my thoughts and deepest condolences to those that are without their mom’s on this weekend.
